Orsha Meat Canning Plant is implementing an investment project worth almost 15 million euros
The investment project includes the construction of a livestock slaughterhouse, wastewater treatment facilities, infrastructure, and the provision of technological equipment. In accordance with the project implementation schedule, preparatory work is planned for April, and construction will begin in May. The slaughterhouse building is to be constructed in 2018, and in 2019, equipment will be installed and commissioning will be carried out. The facility is scheduled for commissioning in December of the following year. The slaughterhouse capacity will be 60 heads of pork per hour and 40 heads of cattle per hour. The current slaughterhouse at the enterprise, built in the 1930s and reconstructed in the 1970s, will be closed. All slaughtering operations will be carried out at the new site, the capabilities of which will ensure raw materials for the entire production cycle of the combine. "This facility will be built according to the latest standards and will comply with the highest sanitary and veterinary requirements. It will open up opportunities for the meat and canning combine to enter foreign markets, including the markets of Muslim countries, as the project provides for the organization of slaughter in accordance with halal requirements. It is also expected that with its commissioning, the combine's revenue will approximately double," noted the enterprise director Nikolai Shabunya. The significance of the investment project was emphasized by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev. "The construction of new large pig breeding complexes and dairy farms is planned in the Vitebsk region, so serious attention is paid to the modernization of dairy and meat processing industries," he stressed. Nikolai Sherstnev also noted that the combine gained good momentum in 2017. In particular, the growth rate of marketable products compared to 2016 was 140%, revenue - almost 150%, and exports - 141%. "This year should be even more
effective. A strong foundation must be created so that by the time the new slaughterhouse, essentially a new meat processing plant, is launched, the debts accumulated over previous years will be repaid," the chairman of the regional executive committee added.
