Orsha District Executive Committee proposes to equip all school buses with boosters
The administration of the Orsha District Executive Committee has sent a petition to the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee to equip all school buses with special restraint devices. The necessity of this is due to the safety requirements for preschool and primary school children, as well as the status of "secondary school-kindergarten" for a number of educational institutions in the district. "Local authorities are serious about implementing their intention, but it will be significantly easier for them to do so with the support of a higher level," emphasized Alexander Kazyuchits, positively assessing this initiative. Elena Bogdanovich, First Deputy Head of the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, also expressed her readiness to support this decision in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent later.
Touching upon the topic of school buses, Alexander Kazyuchits also informed that the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate has submitted a petition to the education department of the regional executive committee with a proposal to equip all school buses with reflective vests corresponding to the number of seats.
"In case of an accident or vehicle breakdown, if it is necessary to leave the bus, children will be able to put them on. This will significantly increase their safety on the road," emphasized the round table participant.
Another initiative of the regional traffic police department is related to the movement of organized groups of schoolchildren. According to the rules, such groups move with red flags carried by the person leading and the person bringing up the rear of the group. Traffic police representatives propose to also provide them with reflective vests. The round table "Health of Schoolchildren. Prevention of Vision Impairment" was held as part of the Unified Health Day in Belarus. Representatives of the education department, the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Vitebsk Regional Children's Clinical Center, and a number of regional healthcare institutions took part in it.
