Orsha district surpassed the 100,000 mark in grain harvest of the new crop

Оршанский район превзошел 100-тысячный рубеж по намолоту зерна нового урожая

The region's farmers are traditionally the absolute leaders in gross grain yield in the region, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the regional executive committee reported.

A harvest of over 100 thousand tons of grain has been consistently gathered here for the last eight years, and since 1970, this is already the fifteenth hundred-thousand-ton harvest for the farmers of Orsha region. The maximum grain harvest in the region was gathered last year - 146.7 thousand tons. Currently, 75% of the areas have been threshed, with a yield of 39.5 centners per hectare.

Vitebsk region, whose farmers harvested 105 thousand tons of grain last year, also has real chances to join the list of 100-thousand-ton producers this season. Three more districts of the region - Dubrovensky, Tolochinsky, and Verkhnedvinsky - may come close to the coveted figure. The maximum harvests of previous years here are 97.8 thousand tons, 92.1 thousand tons, and 88 thousand tons, respectively.

According to operational data as of the morning of August 14, 64% of the areas with grain and leguminous crops have been threshed across the region, with 806 thousand tons harvested at an average yield of 33.4 centners per hectare. In terms of districts, Verkhnedvinsky has the highest yield per hectare - 42 centners per round.
