Orsha plant "Legmash" invested Br2.4 million in production development in the first half of the year

Orsha plant "Legmash" invested Br2.4 million in fixed assets in the first half of the year, said the plant director Sergey Kolos.

The plant is systematically implementing a development program for 2018-2023, which includes five main activities: an investment project for the production of innovative equipment and components for the oil and gas industry; modernization of foundry production; modernization of mechanical processing production; demolition of unused and dilapidated buildings and structures, transfer of land plots to communal ownership; construction and reconstruction of buildings and structures.

Sergey Kolos emphasized the stable work in these areas, as well as the overall activities of the enterprise. Thus, out of 11 key performance indicators set for the first half of the year, there was a lag in only one - revenue from sales per average listed employee, which is due to the financial difficulties of "Legmash" partners. "In general, wages are paid stably at the enterprise, there are no debts for utilities, and new types of products for the oil and gas industry of the Russian Federation are being developed. Certain difficulties are noted in product sales, which are related to the general epidemic situation, however, it is planned to overcome them by August. The plant is fully provided with orders, which inspires confidence in the future," the director emphasized.

In January-June 2020, the production volume was 106% compared to the same period last year, and the average monthly wage increased by 19.8%. By the end of the year, sales profitability is expected to be at least 6.5%, and production volume growth compared to 2019 is 110%.

The enterprise is part of the "Belarusian Metallurgical Company" holding and specializes in the production of water-cooled elements, metal structures, parts and equipment for metallurgy. It also produces steel and cast iron castings. The average number of employees is over 480 people.

The "Legmash" plant became the first stop today on the working trip of Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Nazarov to enterprises in Orsha under the Ministry of Industry. The list also included the Tool Plant, PAK Plant, joint-stock companies "Orshaagroprommash" and "Krasny Borets", and LLC "Tsilindrs-Bel". The main goal of their visit is to identify problem areas and resolve them in the current operations of the enterprises, as well as to address issues related to the implementation of investment projects and the fulfillment of the head of state's instructions.

According to Sergey Pats, First Deputy Chairman of the Orsha District Executive Committee, significant work has been done in the region to develop the real sector of the economy over the past year and a half of implementing Decree No. 506 "On the Development of the Orsha District of the Vitebsk Region". Based on the results of the first half of the year, all five aforementioned enterprises of the Ministry of Industry are operating profitably. "While there were losses at some enterprises last year, they are now operating profitably. We see that employment is ensured at these enterprises. Even considering the epidemiological situation, there are no downtime periods or employer-initiated leaves; investment projects have been developed and are being implemented, meaning stable, rhythmic work is underway. The average salary, for example, at "Legmash" is over Br1 thousand, at PAK Plant – more than Br900, at "Krasny Borets" – around Br1 thousand," noted Sergey Pats.

The volume of attracted direct foreign investment on a net basis for the first quarter of 2020 in the Orsha district amounted to approximately Br11 million – the annual target is slightly higher than this figure. "This indicates that development is proceeding in the right direction, and the attention given to the Orsha district is yielding results," concluded the First Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee.
