Orsha plant "Legmash" has completed the first stage of the enterprise development plan implementation

Open Joint Stock Company "Legmash Plant" (Orsha), which is part of the "Belarusian Steel Works" Production Association (PS "BSW"), has completed the first stage of implementing the investment business plan for the development of the "Legmash" plant, the chief engineer of the joint-stock company Denis Lipchevsky told a BELTA correspondent. In January of this year, "Legmash", in accordance with the five-year business plan, launched four modernized production sites after upgrading. A numerically controlled (NC) press brake was commissioned. Thanks to the new equipment, it became possible to process sheet metal up to 20 mm thick and up to 3 m long. The mechanical section has launched 4 modern NC lathes with a 12-position driven tool. Thanks to the modernization, a polymer coating section has been created. This will improve the quality of manufactured products and, by reducing costs, will decrease the cost of the final product - wire and metal cord winding spools, which are supplied to domestic and foreign markets. The entire development project for "Legmash" is designed for the period up to 2015 and includes a set of measures aimed at mastering new import-substituting types of products and increasing export supplies. In particular, the enterprise intends to begin mastering the production of prestressed reinforcement and steel ropes, which are in demand in the construction industry. Another project is designed for the production of import-substituting products - high-pressure hoses. The business plan also provides for the modernization of foundry production, which will enable high-precision casting of components and housings for machine-building enterprises, and the metal structures and water-cooled elements section for metallurgical equipment. According to economists' calculations, over Br20 billion needs to be invested in the development of the "Legmash" plant in the next five years. As a result, by the end of 2015, the volume of commodity production will increase more than twofold compared to 2010, with sales profitability reaching at least 16%. The enterprise intends to significantly increase export supplies and expand sales markets. The "Legmash" plant is engaged in metal processing, casting, heat treatment, and galvanic works. A significant part of the products is intended for PS "BSW", however, the enterprise is developing its own production and supplies products for export. In 2010, the growth rate of export supplies compared to 2009 increased almost sixfold. In 2010, the volume of products at comparable prices exceeded Br24 billion. The profitability of sold products was 4.6%. OJSC "Legmash Plant" was established on the basis of the Orsha Sewing Machine Plant, which became part of PS "BSW" in 2006.
