The remains of 22 Red Army soldiers were reburied in the Liozno district
The remains of 22 Red Army soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War were reburied today in the Liozno district at the mass grave in the agro-town of Babinovichi, the Babinovichi village council reported.
The remains were exhumed as a result of search operations conducted by servicemen of the 52nd Separate Specialized Battalion in the area of the villages of Kosteyevo and Rublyovo of the Babinovichi village council in October of this year. A medallion was also found here, which helped establish the name of one of the fallen heroes - Bayev Alexander Vasilyevich, born in 1899 (sergeant, squad leader), died in the battles of October 1943 in these places. Work to identify the names of the other soldiers is ongoing. The remains of the Red Army soldiers were buried with military honors. The solemn ceremony was attended by representatives of local authorities, work collectives, veteran and youth organizations, clergy, schoolchildren, local residents, and others. The mass grave in Babinovichi is the resting place for the remains of over 2,000 Red Army soldiers; the previous reburial here took place in the autumn of 2009, when the remains of 85 Red Army soldiers were interred.
