OSVOD and the Vitebsk Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold exercises on rescuing people during spring floods

The main topic of the exercises, which will be held on March 2-3 by specialists of the regional organization of the Belarusian Republican Society of Rescue on Waters (OSVOD) and the Ministry of Emergency Situations units of Vitebsk, will be the practice of joint actions to rescue people in conditions of a possible flood. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the regional organization of OSVOD. During the practical exercises, it is planned to work out issues of providing assistance to citizens who find themselves in distress due to spring floods. Special attention in the training of OSVOD specialists will be paid to mastering the skills of rescuing people stranded on ice floes - approaches to those in distress on foot or by means of watercraft, as well as evacuation and subsequent provision of first aid to victims. Also, during the exercises, issues of interaction between the structural units of OSVOD and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in conditions of spring floods will be worked out. Currently, all full-time units of the regional organization of OSVOD have been brought to full readiness to work in conditions of possible spring floods. The regional organization includes 10 rescue stations, 8 rescue posts, and a maneuver and search group. -0-
