From Artificial Intelligence to Food Security: UAE Ambassador Visits Vitebsk Region

A wide range of promising areas for mutually beneficial cooperation between the Vitebsk region and partners from the United Arab Emirates creates a basis for continuous growth in trade turnover, which is already approaching the mark of 2.5 billion rubles.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, today during a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Belarus, Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al-Musharrah. The diplomat is on a three-day visit to the Vitebsk region and has already managed to visit a number of enterprises in the Orsha district.

— While preparing for the meeting, I paid attention to our economic interaction and was surprised to find that the trade turnover is approaching 2.5 billion dollars. Few can boast of such figures! I am deeply convinced that we have room to grow and something to offer each other. Cooperation is a two-way street. It will bring mutual benefit, and the friendship of the leaders of our countries will accelerate this process and help effectively use all available opportunities, — noted the head of the region.

According to the diplomat, Belarus as a whole has significant potential, and this will help expand cooperation in all areas.

— We associate the future of the UAE primarily with the development of technologies, from artificial intelligence to the green economy. Another area of our close attention is food security. And during my stay in Belarus, I became convinced that we can move forward together in these areas, — said Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al-Musharrah. In addition, the ambassador proposed using the UAE's logistics potential and developed infrastructure to promote to the regions of the Middle East and North Africa.

Alexander Subbotin expressed confidence that in these areas we will be able to significantly help each other, not only with technologies and human resources, but also with available production capacities. Each side has strengths that can be used to achieve a significant joint result for the benefit of the citizens of both countries, the head of the region noted.

The UAE Ambassador's visit program includes a visit to the administration of the FEZ "Vitebsk" and resident enterprises of the FEZ. In addition, the diplomat will familiarize himself with the production potential of Private Enterprise "Vitebskiye Podemniki", JSC "BelVitunipharm", "Polotsk-Steкловолокно" and will visit the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Plant.
