От начала белорусской государственности до современности. Презентация Витебщины состоялась на ВДНХ в Москве
A large-scale presentation of the Vitebsk region took place on February 16 in Moscow at the "Republic of Belarus" pavilion at VDNKh. It became a kind of culmination of the Vitebsk Region Days, which are being held at the main exhibition site of Russia from February 2 to 26, according to a BELTA correspondent.

Vitebsk region became the second region of Belarus to present its potential at VDNKh. The first was Brest region. The remaining regions will showcase their achievements here in the coming months.

The presentation was opened by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin. "The presentation of Vitebsk region here, at VDNKh, is only a part of our rich history and culture. I am confident that you will have a desire not only to visit our beautiful region but also to implement our joint projects and ideas for the further development of our good neighborliness. The unity of peoples and peace are the most valuable things we have. We can solve all problematic issues if we work together, combining our efforts and remaining consistent in implementing the strategic task of developing and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between our regions," said Alexander Subbotin. He noted that about 70 Vitebsk and Russian enterprises are linked by cooperative ties, carrying out mutual supplies of raw materials, materials, and components.

"The region maintains leading positions among the regions of Belarus in terms of export of goods and services. We export over 1.5 thousand types of products, of which about 40% are high- and medium-tech goods. The Vitebsk region is the largest producer in Belarus of such goods as power cables, linen fabrics, footwear, and composite materials," the head of the region informed.
From Industry to Culture. Vitebsk Region Signed Agreements with Several Regions of the Russian Federation
Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy noted that Vitebsk region occupies a special place in Belarus.

"You saw on the map that"this is the north of the republic, but in reality, it is the cradle of our state," he emphasized. The Ambassador recalled that many famous people are natives of Vitebsk region: first printers, writers, poets, artists, scientists.

"Our contemporary, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, was also born in Vitebsk region - in the urban settlement of Kopys, Orsha district. Therefore, this imposes special obligations on the Vitebsk region," the diplomat stated.

State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev noted that representatives of almost 20 subjects of the Russian Federation came to the presentation of the Vitebsk region.

"This is another confirmation of love for Vitebsk region and a sign that our interregional ties, sister city relations are the most important resource of bilateral relations," he emphasized.

One of such honored guests from the regions of the Russian Federation was the governor of the Pskov region, which is adjacent to Vitebsk, Mikhail Vedernikov."The events of recent years have united us even more, we have begun to implement joint projects more actively, successfully responding to all modern challenges, doing it together. Today, we are strengthening and developing our economic and tourist ties, and cultural potential," he said.

"They say you can't choose your neighbors. But I am happy to say that we were lucky with our neighbor, he has become a true friend, a reliable partner, and essentially a brother to us. It is no coincidence that last year Pskov and Vitebsk officially became sister cities. And this document is not for show, but for the real development of relations," the Pskov governor stated.
Over two weeks, during which the Days of the Vitebsk Region are held at VDNKh, they were visited by over 35 thousand Muscovites and guests of the Russian capital. The Vitebsk region exposition presents almost the entire history of the formation and development of both the Vitebsk region and Belarusian statehood as a whole in the Polotsk lands. These include ancient crafts, the costume of a Vitebsk nobleman, and the history of the first Belarusian tram. A separate stand is dedicated to the partisan movement in Vitebsk region during the Great Patriotic War, including the life and feat of one of the most famous partisans strMinaï Filippovich Shmyrev (Bat'ka Minaï).
The stand, which tells about the restoration of industry in the Vitebsk region after the Great Patriotic War, is complemented by modern products of Vitebsk enterprises presented in the trade pavilions: there is Belarusian flax, footwear, and products of the food industry. Moreover, all products are accompanied by special QR codes that allow you to learn about the enterprise as a whole and all the products manufactured at it.

Confirming the title of the cultural capital of Belarus, the Vitebsk region has focused its exhibition on the sphere of culture. And, of course, a special place is given to the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk": a copy of the Summer Amphitheatre arch, decorating the pavilion's stage, reminds all visitors of it.

The Vitebsk region has also prepared various surprises for visitors to VDNKh: master classes by folk craftsmen, various prize drawings, tastings, and non-losing lotteries.
