The opening of the 86th season at the Yanka Kupala National Theatre in Vitebsk will be held with a full house
September 7, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The 86th theater season will open today at the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater in Vitebsk with the performance "Nesterka," the theater director Grigory Shatko informed a BELTA correspondent.
The performance by Vitaly Volsky, premiered on May 18, 1941, has been staged over a thousand times on the Vitebsk stage and has always been warmly received by the public. The current performance will also be a sell-out. The main roles in the production are played by leading actors of the theater: Petr Laman, Ulyana Atyasova, Alexander Bazuk, Raisa Gribovich, Viktor Dashkevich, Maxim Korzhitsky, Valentin Solovyev, and Valentin Tsvetkov.
September will be marked by premieres for Vitebsk theatergoers. Thus, on September 14 and 24, the performance "Malenki Svet" by Alena Popova, directed by Tatyana Sedova, will be presented to the audience on the chamber stage. On September 15, the melodrama-comedy "Ya zhdu nastoyashchego muzhchinu" (I'm Waiting for a Real Man), based on the play "A Pleasant Woman with a Flower and Windows to the North" by Edward Radzinsky, will be performed on the main stage of the theater, with Tamara Kobyak in the leading role. The director of the performance is Yuri Lizengevich.
In addition, the Kolas Theater company will hold exchange tours with Belarusian theaters. The theater's focus on cooperation with young companies is noteworthy in this regard. Thus, from September 20 to 22, the Minsk Regional Drama Theater will present its productions on the Vitebsk stage, and from September 28 to 30, the Gomel City Youth Theater will do the same. The Kolas Theater company will, in turn, perform with their premiere productions "Perebor" and "Ya zhdu nastoyashchego muzhchinu" in Molodechno and Gomel during the same period.
The troupe of the Ya. Kolas Theater is also preparing to stage the musical fairy tale "Sivka-Burka," the fairy tale "Kak volk mamoy byl" (How the Wolf Was a Mom) by Vasily Tkachev, "Nelzya zabyt'" (Cannot Forget) by Vladimir Korotkevich, "Lyasnaya pesnya" (The Forest Song) by Lesya Ukrainka, and "Doktar fіlasofiі" (Doctor of Philosophy) by Bronislav Nušić.
Grigory Shatko also touched upon a sensitive issue for the theater regarding the appointment of a new artistic director. According to him, the Ministry of Culture has done significant work in this direction, and many candidates have been considered. Along with this, the theater's opinion has also been heard. "The issue should be resolved in the near future," the theater director summarized. -0-
