Открытие IFMC-2018 в Витебске: фурор театра Безрукова и необычный перформанс в фойе
The International Festival of Modern Choreography is an authoritative forum, a calling card of the country, said the Minister of Culture of Belarus, Yuri Bondar, who took part in its opening. This year, representatives from 22 countries have arrived in Vitebsk, with more than 60 performances and events in the program.

Yuri Bondar, in particular, noted that more than 60 festivals are held annually in our country with state support, and IFMC occupies a special place on this list due to its contribution to the history of Belarusian culture over its 30-year existence.

The Vitebsk stage determines the trends in the development of modern choreographic art not only in our country but also worldwide. The Minister of Culture himself has been attending the Vitebsk festival for many years and greatly enjoys the encounter with choreographic art.

Greetings to the forum from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, and the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, were also read out. The collectives that will take part in the international competition, which starts today, were presented to the Vitebsk public. This year, the jury is headed by Radu Poklitaru, choreographer and chief ballet master of the Kyiv Modern Ballet Theatre.

Yesterday, in the foyer of the Vitebsk Concert Hall, the dancers of the "Joshua Monten company" from Switzerland greeted the audience with "Little Joys". The performance presented by the troupe, which demonstrates how a person who has hurt another sometimes rejoices, has already been seen in Germany, France, Spain, Peru, and other countries. Now our city has been added to this list.

And on the main stage, the Moscow Provincial Theatre, led by Sergey Bezrukov, shone. The troupe brought a wordless performance "Caligula," staged by the talented choreographer Sergey Zemlyansky based on Albert Camus' play of the same name.

A performance about the extent to which despotism and cruelty, which do not receive resistance, can go. The language of plastic arts can sometimes be more eloquent than words, and dramatic actors master it perfectly.

The tension in the wordless narrative is created by music and light. The sets and costumes are very spectacular. After the performance, the audience gave a standing ovation.
