The opening of the renovated Victory Square in Vitebsk will take place on May 8, the Culture Department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Representatives of regional and city authorities, youth organizations and labor collectives, veterans from all regions of the oblast, and the public will take part in the festive ceremony. Afterwards, all participants will enjoy a festive concert, and in the evening, the sky over the largest square in Belarus will be illuminated by the bright lights of a light and music fireworks display. Events dedicated to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War are already being held in all regions of the oblast. Thus, on May 5, a solemn presentation of orders for new apartments and jubilee medals to veterans took place at the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. Tributes to war participants are being held everywhere. However, these events will be most widely celebrated in the coming days. Thus, on May 7, the best creative groups of the regional center will perform for veterans at the "Vitebsk" concert hall. On May 8, a solemn reception will be held by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. May 9 will be an endless series of bright events and folk festivals, which will take place from morning until night. Traditionally, Victory Day will be opened by a festive procession of war veterans, the public, and youth, and the laying of wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square. A rally and the most large-scale events will also take place here: a parade of troops of the Vitebsk garrison, a concert by children's groups and performers, a dance and entertainment program for youth, and a festive evening salute. The Summer Amphitheater will host a solemn ceremony dedicated to the Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag. The Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces of Belarus will perform here. Other concert venues in the city will also be active: music and songs will be heard in squares, parks, cultural and sports institutions in all microdistricts of the regional center. Concert programs, sports competitions, various contests, attractions, and exhibitions will be organized here. Due to these events, traffic will be restricted on May 9, and a special restricted zone will be created from Lenin Square to Chernyakhovsky Avenue. -0-
