The open regional biathlon championship for the prizes of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee was held in Vitebsk
The competitions were held in a fierce struggle. The awarding of the winners and prize-winners was attended by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vasily Zakharevich, Head of the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Regional Executive Committee, and Sergey Feoktistov, Chairman of the KGB Department for the Vitebsk Region, Head of the Regional Biathlon Federation.
— This is the first time the regional championship has been held for prizes from the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. And this is no coincidence, — noted Vladimir Terentyev. — The head of the region himself actively participates in ski races and closely follows the performances of biathletes. This year, new republican competitions were held in the country among girls and boys. More than 150 young athletes competed for the title of the strongest in individual and team events. As a result, the team of shooters from the Vitebsk region became the first team in history to win the Belarus Biathlon Federation Challenge Cup.
It should be noted that a lot of work is being done in the Vitebsk region to support and develop this sport. The successful performance of the Belarusian team at the recent Olympic Games in Pyeongchang also contributes to its popularization. The victory of the women's quartet in the relay, the gold medal won by Irina Krivko, a representative of the Senno biathlon school, left no one indifferent.
