The assessment of the environmental impact of Belneftekhim enterprises in the Polotsk region will be carried out in 2013
In 2013, environmentalists of the Vitebsk region intend to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the impact of Belneftekhim enterprises on the environment in the Polotsk region. This was announced today to journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Ruslan Vinokurov, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"In the current year, the committee's specialists intend to conduct a consolidated calculation of harmful emissions in the Polotsk region. This will allow for a comprehensive assessment of the situation and the impact of Belneftekhim enterprises on the ecology of the cities of Polotsk and Novopolotsk. Subsequently, a system of measures will be developed to create conditions for a favorable state of atmospheric air," said the chairman of the committee.
The region has issued 207 permits for the emission of pollutants into the atmospheric air. For 2012, the analytical control service provided 1062 test reports on emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air from stationary sources. 13 cases of exceeding the maximum single emission standards for pollutants established in permits for emissions into the atmospheric air by 11 enterprises were recorded. 16 administrative protocols were drawn up for non-compliance with the maximum single standards for permissible emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air. In 11 out of 13 cases, the amount of damage caused to the environment was calculated, and claims were filed against nature users for more than Br40 million. "A healthy environment is a healthy economy. This is the formula for the well-being of the population," emphasized Ruslan Vinokurov.
