The greening of Novopolotsk concerned the citizens who appealed to the President within the framework of the "Big Conversation with the President".

All appeals received by the Head of State during the preparation and holding of the "Big Conversation with the President" have been forwarded to the relevant authorities for further consideration and necessary action.

It should be noted that the majority of the appeals concern issues of local importance. This includes the issue of greening Novopolotsk, where, due to harmful emissions into the atmosphere by petrochemical enterprises, the air pollution level is one of the highest in Belarus.

As Sergey Shamrilo, Head of the Housing and Communal Services Department of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee, stated, the "Concept for Greening Urban Territories" has recently been approved. Its development was carried out by specialists from the City Executive Committee departments – housing and communal services, education, trade and services – with the involvement of representatives from the special motor transport enterprise, the housing and repair and operation trust, and the architectural and production bureau.

The goal of the work is to aestheticize residential areas and territories adjacent to enterprises and organizations of all forms of ownership. This will be carried out with the participation of the public and labor collectives.

The consolidation of efforts to improve the land and благоустройство urban territories is linked to the principles of integrated development and the constant care of the city administration for the "green lungs" of Novopolotsk.

The green construction unit of the special motor transport enterprise plays a crucial role in this work, directly involved in the floral design of streets, the creation of garden and park compositions in public recreation areas, and the care of plantings.

In 2018 alone, landscapers planted about 300,000 flowers, 1,800 shrubs, and over 1,500 trees. The enterprise actively assists business entities in improving the territories assigned to them and supports environmental and nature conservation initiatives.

A vivid example of such cooperation is the establishment of the "Park of Family Trees" near the "Naftan" hotel as part of a youth republican project supported by the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

Greening of adjacent territories is the responsibility of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "ZhREO". This organization manages over 12 thousand trees and more than 3600 shrubs. Systematic care is provided for the green spaces, and invasive plants are removed. Annual reviews and competitions among housing and operational services for the title of "Best Yard" serve as a significant motivation in improving the urban environment.

Novopolotsk has rich traditions in landscaping. Initially, the comprehensive development of residential areas involved preserving green islands within the city and reforestation efforts. The parkland in the flood plain of the Western Dvina, the largest in the Vitebsk region, was planted by the hands of the first builders. Modern projects also include greening measures, which help make the oil city attractive and comfortable for living.
