Padberezze can become another attractive object on the tourist map of the Vitebsk region

Падбярэззе можа стаць яшчэ адным прыцягальным аб’ектам на турыстычнай карце Віцебшчыны

Several centuries earlier, this very village was the center of economic innovation in the Dvina region, which served as the basis for including the settlement in the international project "Living History of My Region", implemented in Belarus by the German Association of People's Universities. The main goal of the program is the development of rural regions through the use of elements of local culture, history, and natural potential, as well as support for local historical and cultural initiatives.

"

Podberezsky Chest" is headed by Valentina Kirillova. She organized an initiative group, which included scientists, local historians, and residents of Podberezye interested in their small homeland. They found interesting facts from the history of the settlement, known to a small circle of specialists. "Podberezsky Chest" aims not only to shed light on forgotten pages of the past but also, by analyzing the historical experience of Podberezye's economic upswing, to contribute to its current cultural and business revival. The idea found support in the Association of Employers and Entrepreneurs of the Vitebsk Region.

Recently, a village festival was organized in Podberezje, during which project organizers and participants visited the settlement and held scientific readings. In their reports, scientists drew attention to famous historical figures who were connected with this region and contributed to its cultural and economic prosperity. For example, it was here that the famous statesman and diplomat of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Jan Antoni Chrapowicki, was born. From 1669 to 1685, he held the position of Vitebsk Voivode. Later, the lands belonged to the famous and influential Belarusian magnates, the Oginskis. The Vitebsk Voivode, Prince Marcjan Michał Ogiński, strove to make Podberezje the main residence of his heirs.

In the second half of the 19th century, a society of Vitebsk farmers was established here, who developed agricultural culture using progressive farming methods of that time. Demonstration farms were built here.

At the present stage, the economic life of these places is closely connected with one of the most developed and successful agricultural enterprises in the Vitebsk region, SVK

"Algovskoye". Representatives of the farm annually, among the best agrarians, take part in the republican festival of rural workers "Dazhynki", and are awarded prizes for achieving high indicators in the production of grain and livestock products.

Considering the extensive scientific work carried out by the project's initiative group

"Padbyarezski kufar", one can hope that a small village near Vitebsk will become known far beyond its region and will receive many guests. An information base is currently being created on the history of the economic development of this region and modern production technologies. Perhaps, soon the first business tourism facility will appear here, which will contribute to the development of entrepreneurship and the improvement of the region's image.
