Monument to the folk music festival will be opened in Postavy

Памятник фестивалю народной музыки откроется в Поставах

A monument to the folk music festival will be unveiled in Postavy during the XVI International Festival of Folk Music "Zvinjats Cymbaly i Harmonik", which begins today in Postavy. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Postavy District Executive Committee.

The opening of the music forum will be attended by the Zhynovich State Academic Folk Orchestra of Belarus, and the Belarusian State Choreographic Ensemble "Khoroshki", which will be the main highlight of the musical and theatrical performance "Pastavski Bal". After the ball, the sky over Postavy will be illuminated by a festive fireworks display, and the first day of the festival will conclude late at night with a disco.

The main event of the festival – the competition of folk instrument ensembles and individual performers "Khto Kaho?" – will take place in Postavy on June 8. Representatives from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, and Venezuela will take part in the musical competition. On the same day, an exhibition of works by Belarusian artists who participated in the plein air dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Alfred Romer (Belarusian, Lithuanian, and Polish artist, sculptor, medalist, art critic, and ethnographer) will open at the House of Crafts. Another exhibition – a display of folk musical instruments – will be organized at the House of Culture. And in the central square of Postavy, "Horad Maystrou" (City of Masters) will be adjacent to rural homesteads (participants of the district review-competition "Pastavshchyna Hastynnaya" - Hospitable Postavy Region). The final of the second festival day includes a youth program and a night disco.

The concluding chords of the XVI International Festival of Folk Music "Zvinjats Cymbaly i Harmonik" will sound in Postavy on June 9. The program includes a classical music concert, a performance by a military brass band, a theatrical procession of participants and guests of the forum, the solemn opening of a commemorative sign for the folk music festival in the city park, and a final gala concert.
