A monument to an Easter egg appeared in the Zuzi Poziersky estate in Postavy region
April 22, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. On the eve of Christ's Bright Resurrection, a monument to a Easter egg was erected in the Zyuzy Poosersky estate - on the territory of the "Azyarki" folklore and mythological complex in the Postavy district. Egor Shushkevich, director of the local "Center for Tourist Services," informed a BELTA correspondent about this.
On a pedestal stands a concrete replica of the traditional Easter symbol, enlarged to the size of a park sculpture and painted. The total height is about 2 m. The author and executor of the project is a local artist. The grand opening of the monument will take place on April 30 during the excursion tour "Easter Traditions of Postavy Pooserye." This unique route tells about the specifics of celebrating Christ's Resurrection in the region, where Orthodox and Catholics live side by side in peace and harmony, where the customs of the West and East are closely intertwined.
Since ancient times, the egg has been considered a symbol of the Universe, life, rebirth, and fertility. It is not by chance that the Christian tradition adopted it as the main attribute of the greatest holiday - Easter. Monuments to the Easter egg have been erected in Russia and Canada, but most of them are in Ukraine. However, in Belarus, before the appearance of the Postavy Easter egg, there were no similar monuments. Only in Soligorsk did a local poultry farm install a sculpture in honor of a chicken egg as a symbol of food. -0-
