A monument to a fallen border guard was erected in the Verkhnedvinsk district

This happened in September 2004. A car with employees of the Verkhnedvinsk Border Guard Department was returning from the Soveyki outpost after duty, the driver lost control – and an accident occurred in which 37-year-old Captain Vladimir Narubin died. A memorial sign was erected at the site of his death in the Genuevskaya Gora tract of the Osvyeyevsky village council at that time, but over time it required replacement.

A new one in the form of a granite border post with the name of the deceased captain appeared there thanks to officers of the Polotsk Border Detachment and its units, who raised money for a noble cause. As reported by the head of the Verkhnedvinsk Border Guard Department, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Narubin, the monument's opening ceremony was attended by the head of the Polotsk Border Detachment Vladislav Bruev, representatives of the clergy, as well as the father, sister, and friends of the tragically departed Vladimir Gennadievich, who expressed gratitude for the remembrance.
