Памятный знак, посвященный 75-летию Партизанского парада 23 июля 1944 года, торжественно открыт в Витебске
This honorable right was granted to the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev, the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Viktor Nikolaikin, the Great Patriotic War veteran, participant of the partisan detachment "Death to Fascism" Tatyana Zabello, and the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Council of Veterans Larisa Olenskaya.

Welcoming the participants of the event, the head of the region's deputy corps thanked the city authorities for the worthy implementation of a truly popular idea – the installation of a sign in honor of a significant event in the heroic history of Vitebsk region. This is one of the vivid examples of perpetuating the memory of the Fatherland's defenders in the region on the eve of the anniversary of Belarus's liberation.

The sign, consisting of two granite pedestals with memorial plaques, not only adorned the entrance to the boulevard on Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street but also harmoniously blended into the ensemble of Victory Square. The texts in Belarusian and Russian state: "On this site, on July 23, 1944, a Partisan Parade took place, dedicated to the liberation of Vitebsk and Vitebsk Region from the Nazi invaders, in which more than 5 thousand partisans and about 10 thousand residents of the city and suburban settlements took part"; "On the territory of Vitebsk Region in 1941 – 1944.in the years, there were 39 partisan brigades, uniting 325 detachments and battalions, and 34 separate partisan detachments.”

By the way. During the fascist occupation, the People's Avengers of the Vitebsk region derailed 1147 enemy trains, destroyed over 113 thousand Hitler soldiers and officers, 151 tanks, and shot down 77 aircraft. The names of talented commanders of the mass partisan movement in the Dvina region – Heroes of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev, Pyotr Masherov, Vladimir Lobanok, Konstantin Zaslonov, Alexey Danukalov, and others – are forever inscribed in the history of the Great Patriotic War.

In the partisan republic, as Belarus has been called since the Great Patriotic War, there were only two such parades – first in Minsk, then in Vitebsk.

At the current rally dedicated to him, which, by the way, took place as part of

celebrations of City Day, memories of the main milestones of the partisan epic were heard. At the end, participants familiarized themselves with documentary materials collected at the thematic interactive site and relics of Victory.
