September 23, Minsk /BelTA/. Parliamentary elections were held in 15 constituencies – 7 in the Gomel region, 4 in the Vitebsk region, and 4 in the Mogilev region. This was announced to journalists today by Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidiya Yermoshina, BelTA reports. "If voters in these constituencies cast the majority of votes for any single candidate for deputy, then there is a prospect that the names of the winners will be announced in the evening," the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission noted. As of 12:00, about 40% of voters had cast their ballots on average in Belarus. In the Gomel, Vitebsk, and Mogilev regions, voter turnout approached 50%, while in other regions it was around 40%. "More positive information about the number of voters from other regions is expected after 2:00 PM. From 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM is the period of the most active voter turnout," she said. According to Lidiya Yermoshina, the emotional atmosphere at polling stations across the country is calm. "A representative of the prosecutor's office is on duty at the Central Election Commission, who confirms that there are practically no complaints from citizens," she added. -0-
