Parliamentary elections were held in all 110 constituencies - CEC

September 23, Minsk /BELTA/. Parliamentary elections have been held in all 110 electoral districts of Belarus. This was announced today to journalists by the Secretary of the Central Election Commission, Nikolai Lozovik, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "Voters are actively participating in the electoral process. We can say that the elections across the Republic of Belarus have taken place," said Nikolai Lozovik. According to data as of 6:00 PM, 65.9% of voters participated in the parliamentary elections. In the Brest region, 64.2% of voters have already cast their ballots, in Vitebsk - 73.1%, Gomel - 68.9%, Grodno - 67.1%, Minsk region - 67.2%, Mogilev - 72.5%, in Minsk city - 53.6%, and abroad - 61.6%. Assessing the course of the election campaign, Nikolai Lozovik noted that it is proceeding calmly. "Of course, if we compare our elections with the elections in Ukraine, then perhaps there are many more mass events, demonstrations, pickets, and tent cities. There, one can say that elections have turned into a kind of national entertainment that takes place almost every year," said the CEC Secretary. In his opinion, the course of the election campaign is to some extent interconnected with the economic situation in the country. "The fact that our country is holding elections calmly, without any swerving left or right, indicates that the economy is also working stably and calmly," believes the Secretary of the Central Election Commission. -0-
