The Easter service was led by Archbishop Dmitry of Vitebsk and Orsha in Vitebsk
His Eminence read out the congratulatory message from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.
- The belief in the resurrection of Christ is the unshakable pillar of Christianity. Through His sacrifice, the Son of God takes upon Himself the sin of the world, leading humanity to its creator, to eternal and blessed life with God. We are called to bear witness with our words and deeds to Him who ascended the Cross for us and endured suffering for our transgressions, - the congratulatory message stated.
Representatives of the regional authorities and the deputy corps of the Vitebsk region attended the divine service. Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, noted that Easter is the holiest holiday for all believers.
- On this sunny spring day, I wish that the holiday is present in life and in the soul, that people feel the joy of creation, and that it accompanies us throughout the year. Happy Easter! - said Vladimir Vladimirovich.
Saint Gregory of Nyssa called Easter the triumph of triumphs, the feast of feasts, when Jesus trampled death by His death and gave us the chance to live forever. Christ is Risen!
