They sang with both voice and heart. The "Let's Sing Victory Songs Together" event was held in Vitebsk
The district event "Let's Sing Victory Songs Together" was held at the Memorial Complex in honor of Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region.
To sing songs of the war years, which reflect the events of that time, tell about the feelings of soldiers and the feats of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, the leadership of the region, the city, the administration, enterprises, educational institutions, public organizations of the Oktyabrsky district, and residents of Vitebsk gathered on Victory Square.
The participants of the event performed fragments of famous songs such as "The Sacred War," "From the Heroes of Bygone Times," "Dark Night," "Katyusha," "The 10th Battalion," "Smuglyanka," "May Waltz," and "Victory Day" in a friendly choir.
The repertoire was not chosen by chance, as noted by Yuri Panfilov, head of the administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Vitebsk: the songs are arranged in chronological order and tell about what happened from 1941 to 1945.
– The Great Patriotic War lasted 1418 days, so initially we planned to invite the same number of participants, but there were many more who wished to join, and we could not refuse anyone, – said Yuri Panfilov. – Vladimir Karpushonok, the head of the exemplary pop ensemble "Vetraź" of Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 3, made a great contribution to the creation of the event, and we are also grateful to the Vitebsk Culture Center, the regional philharmonic society, music schools, and other cultural institutions that helped bring our idea to life, as they helped us create the repertoire and concept of a large choir.
As one of the participants of the event, the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee Nikolai Orlov noted, while among the singing groups and performing songs of the war years, he felt the unity of Belarusians, pride in the country, its heroes, and the joy that we are under a peaceful sky today.
– I got goosebumps when a child started singing "The Sacred War," after which other choirs joined the thin child's voice, and while performing the last song "Victory Day," I realized that all the works had penetrated the heart and soul of each of us, – Nikolai Orlov said. – Today, in this significant and sacred place for Vitebsk, on the eve of Victory Day, people of different generations gathered, which indicates that we continue to preserve the memory of the war and its heroes and pass it on to the youth.
At the end of the event, the participants laid flowers at the Memorial Complex in honor of the Soviet soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region.
