An elderly woman sustained serious injuries in a gas explosion at her home in Horadok

November 8, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. An elderly resident of Horadok, Vitebsk region, received serious injuries in a fire in her own house, which occurred due to a gas explosion. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press secretary of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando. The report of the incident in a private house was received at night on November 5 by the district department for emergency situations from a local resident living nearby. The epicenter of the fire was in the kitchen of the building. Simultaneously with the extinguishing of the fire, rescuers provided assistance to the injured owner of the house, born in 1930. The woman is in serious condition with burns of the face, back, and arms of varying degrees of severity, and has been hospitalized in the central district hospital. The cause of the fire was a violation of the rules for operating gas equipment. As established, the evening before, the elderly woman, after preparing dinner, left the gas stove valve open. At night, she woke up from the smell of gas and decided to check for a leak using an open flame. This led to an explosion followed by combustion. As a result of the fire, the walls, ceiling, and some of the property in the kitchen of the residential building were damaged. -0-
