Reassessment of the history of the Great Patriotic War is unacceptable - A. Kosinets

May 9, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Reassessment of the history of the Great Patriotic War is unacceptable, emphasized the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a rally dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Victory, a BELTA correspondent reports. "The true victors over fascism are our veterans. It is they who have medals "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Liberation of Belgrade", "For the Capture of Budapest", "For the Capture of Berlin" on their chests," the governor said. The date May 9, 1945, entered world history and is of great importance for dozens of countries and peoples. For our state, it means freedom and independence. The victory was not easy. In the Vitebsk region alone, every third resident died during the war, so it is necessary to understand that there should be no place for wars, terrorism, and extremism in the modern world, Alexander Kosinets emphasized. A festive rally, a parade of troops of the Vitebsk garrison, and a procession of representatives of labor collectives in honor of May 9 took place in Vitebsk on Victory Square. It was opened by infantry fighting vehicles, on which standard-bearers carried an exact replica of the Victory Banner and the banners of the fronts that liberated Vitebsk region - the First Baltic, Second, and Third Belarusian. And following the Banner and banners, veterans of the Great Patriotic War rode in open cars. About 40,000 citizens came to the square to greet the surviving heroes of the war, pay tribute to the fallen, and participate in the celebrations. -0-
