June 21, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Ceremonies for the reburial of the remains of fallen Red Army soldiers and partisan detachments will be held on June 22 in the Verkhnedvinsk and Shumilino districts of the Vitebsk region, the ideology department of the regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
In the Shumilino district, the remains of 8 people, discovered during excavation work in various locations in the region, will be laid to rest. The ceremony will take place in the agro-town of Kordon. The reburial will be carried out in a memorial military burial ground where over 200 people who died during the Great Patriotic War are already interred.
The remains of five people will be reburied in the Verkhnedvinsk district. The ceremony will be held in the agro-town of Sarya, on the territory of which a military burial ground is located. The remains of the fallen were discovered by local residents during excavation work, including 5 ebonite medallions, likely belonging to the fallen. Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to establish precise information about their owners due to the fact that the contents of the medallions have almost completely decayed. Nevertheless, work to restore information about the fallen will continue.
The reburials will be part of memorial events on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War, which will be held on June 22 in all districts of the region. For example, in Glubokoye, a memorial plaque to the leader of the Glubokoye underground group, Yuri Sobolevsky, will be unveiled. The son of the heroic underground fighter plans to take part in the ceremony. Also on this day, a monument to the fallen fellow countrymen will be unveiled in the village of Pripernoe, Glubokoye district.
In Vitebsk, a wreath-laying ceremony and a rally will be held at the Memorial to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the area of Uspenskaya Gorka. On the evening of June 21, the Regional Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev invites all residents and guests of the city to a theatrical requiem evening. The program is based on the idea of showing the peaceful life of Vitebsk on the day before the war began, which was abruptly interrupted on June 22, and demonstrating the daily life of the occupied city. The chronicle of that time will be recreated by members of the Vitebsk branch of the military-historical reconstruction club "Comrades in Arms" and the student club "Kraeved" of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov, with the support of the city's artistic groups. The events will unfold in the museum's park area on the Alley of Partisan Glory, which is designed as an open-air exhibition recreation. An important emotional component of the reconstruction will be the screening of documentary footage from that period. Visitors will be able to read newspapers from June 21, 1941. An exhibition of trophy items from the Great Patriotic War period from the museum's collections and private collections will open in one of the museum halls.-0-
