The first encyclopedia of Belarusian show business was presented at the "Slavianski Bazaar"

July 14, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The first encyclopedia of Belarusian popular music was presented today at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk arts festival, a BELTA correspondent reports. The initiator of the publication, the author of the idea and the compiler is journalist, member of the Union of Writers of Belarus Dmitry Podberezsky. According to him, the main goal of this publication is to fill in the gaps in the history of Belarusian popular music. The encyclopedia covers the period from 1939 to the present day and contains about 570 articles dedicated to individual performers and groups, as well as representatives of related professions - clip makers, sound engineers, DJs, producers. The articles in the publication contain brief information about the person's life and creative path, information about their tours, participation in festivals, music awards, discography, a list of clips, as well as contact information. When selecting candidates, the author proceeded from three criteria: the performer having at least one factory-produced track, being awarded a laureate title at a competition of no lower than national status, and having at least 5 years of professional stage experience. The encyclopedia opens with an article about Isku Abalyan and concludes with an article about the group VAR. The print run of the book is 2,000 copies. Dmitry Podberezsky completely disagrees with the opinion that show business is absent in Belarus. The author is already preparing the second, expanded and revised edition of his encyclopedia. It will be supplemented with about 30 articles about new figures in Belarusian popular music. It will be multimedia and include at least one track per artist. -0-
