The first art gallery in a barn in Belarus opened in the Miory district
A recognized virtuoso of painting, laureate of the Vasil Vitka Literary Prize, she has been participating in exhibitions since 1986. Oksana Borisovna has painted hundreds of portraits of famous Belarusian cultural figures and illustrated over 50 books. She learned about the unconventional project from her young student, Stepan Maslo's granddaughter Kristina Baranova, who studies theatrical art at the Academy of Arts. Now, still lifes and portraits of her mentor adorn the walls next to Kristina's landscapes.
– Kristina painted landscapes in her native village and its surroundings during plein air sessions, and dried her canvases in the barn next to the stored hay, – says the artist's grandfather and the father of the national fairy tale writer Elena Maslo. – Last year, I set up a real workshop there.
By the way, the vernissage in the "punya" has become a new element in Elena Maslo's annual creative project "Milashovsko-Milashovskiye Chteniya" (Milashovo-Milashovo Readings). This year, it began in the Church of God's Mother of the Scapular in the neighboring village of Idolt with the presentation of a disk of local wedding songs, recorded half a century ago by journalist, writer, and ethnographer Sergey Poniznik from Bobyshki, Miory District.
– In 1969, Sergey came to the village of Leonpol for my wedding, – recalls pensioner Evgenia Adamovich. – Two cameras on his chest, a tape recorder in his hands. He filmed the entire celebration, talked to people, and recorded songs on tape.
Half a century later, professional musician Sergey Dolgushev took on the digitization of cultural heritage. As a result, he released the disk "Songs and Melodies of Weddings in the Village of Leonpol and its Surroundings in Sergey Poniznik's Recordings from 1968-1969."
Almost all local residents gathered at the event in the church. Many famous guests performed under the vaults of the temple. For example,
