The region's first peace school will appear in the Horadok district

Первая в области школа мира появится в Городокском районе
The first School of Peace in the Vitebsk region will appear in the Gorodok district. This was announced during a meeting of the board of the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation. School No. 1 of the district center will become an experimental platform, but in the future, the project will cover other schools.

It is designed for three years and includes five aspects: "People's Diplomacy," "Memory," "Care and Mercy," "Peace Through Culture," and "Young Peacemaker" (which involves the creation of a detachment of young peace envoys who will contribute to solving the project's tasks). All of them are consonant with the main programs and activities of the Peace Foundation. These include meetings with veterans, scientific and research work, care for disabled people and orphans, support for the volunteer movement, and more. Much is already being implemented in the district today, but within the framework of the project, the work will take on a new form and help to carry out a kind of reboot. The current generation requires different approaches; it is necessary to ensure that children know about past tragedies, feel, and realize the significance of peace. It is also planned to reconstruct and modernize the local People's Museum of Military Glory, which will become a central link for the project participants.

– The initiative to establish a peace school belongs to the regional branch of the Peace Fund and was fully supported by the chairman of the district executive committee, Petr Korobach. In the future, peace schools will appear in other regions of the oblast. The fact that Gorodok became the platform for the pilot project is not accidental. In the near future, we will begin preparations for the 75th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders, and the Gorodok district will be the first in the oblast to celebrate this anniversary, – said the chairman of the regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev. – Great attention will be paid to memorial complexes. Here, I want to express special gratitude to the Peace Fund. It is joining the work we are doing in "Rylionki" in the Dubrovno district. In addition, we will soon celebrate the centenary of the commissariats, and here the organization has not remained indifferent; with the funds of the foundation, we plan to install a memorial plaque to Commissioner Krylov in Vitebsk. In general, each region has a local project supported by the Peace Fund, which is important, because the charitable donations collected in certain districts are returned there.

It is worth noting that the past year has been quite productive for the peacekeepers of the northern region. As reported by the chairman of the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, Tatyana Tumanova, more than 60 events were held quarterly in the region with the financial participation of the public organization. In terms of collecting charitable funds for the Peace Fund, Vitebsk region is among the top three leaders. The best result in the oblast by the end of the year was shown by the Rossony district organization. They worked effectively in all areas in Ushachi, Dubrovno, Glubokoye, Braslav, Miory, Polotsk, Dokshitsy, Sharkovshchina, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Chashniki, and the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk. The residents of the region also actively supported republican campaigns. In particular, within the framework of the "Our Children" campaign, more than 12 thousand rubles were directed to strengthen the material and technical base of social institutions, which was the best indicator according to the republican Peace Fund.

This year, the greatest attention will be paid to the implementation of the "Memory" program, primarily the reconstruction of memorials in the Dubrovno and Rossony districts, the installation of a monument to a paratrooper in Vitebsk, the traditional event "Always in Service, Forever in Memory," as well as the creation of children's peacekeeping centers of the Peace Fund in all corners of the region.
