The Vitebsk Region Boxing Championship identified the strongest

During the hot days of the May holidays, the Vitebsk region championship in boxing among specialized educational and sports institutions and additional education institutions took place. The event was held within the walls of the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex, in the boxing hall named after Olympic champion Vyacheslav Yanovsky. At the opening ceremony of the tournament, dedicated to the memory of the honored coach of Belarus Anatoly Kolchin, the participants of the competition and spectators honored with a minute of silence the recently deceased Anatoly Kirillovich.

77 athletes took part in the competition, 7 of them were girls. In addition to four Vitebsk teams, athletes from Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Lepel, Glubokoye, and Orsha competed for awards. A total of 18 sets of medals were contested. One of the memorable bouts was the final, which was won by Yevgeny Shienok from Vitebsk in the 56 kg weight category. Alexey Stelmakhov, coach of the Komsomolets Youth Sports School, said that Yevgeny is not the only one of his trainees to take first place in these competitions.

In their respective weight categories, Stanislav Popkov and Vyacheslav Vishnevsky became the "gold" medalists.

– These are not the first competitions where I have won, – shares Vyacheslav. – For example, very recently we visited the young Russian town of Kostomuksha, where we participated in competitions. Just like here, I also had two fights there, the result was a pair of "gold" medals in two weeks. I plan to not stop at what has been achieved, but to develop and win.
