The region's first social respite care unit has opened at the Vitebsk boarding house for the elderly and disabled
Currently, there are 274 thousand elderly people living in the Vitebsk region, 40 thousand citizens are over 80 years old, and 6 thousand are over 90. There are 20 thousand lonely people, and 59 residents of the Dvina region have passed the 100-year mark. Considering this situation, the region decided to create departments that will provide the so-called social respite service – day care and supervision for the elderly and disabled.
The first day care department for the elderly and disabled in the region was solemnly opened at the Vitebsk boarding house for the elderly and disabled at the address: Frunze Avenue, building 92, block 2. Another department is opening in Orsha, and in the near future, such a department will also appear in the Braslav boarding house.
Relatives of elderly people will be able to leave them under supervision in a social institution for up to 12 hours a day, five times a week, free of charge. Payment will only be required for meals according to an individual order, the cost of a full day's menu ranges from 5 rubles.
If necessary, medical staff will provide any additional services to the elderly person that are available in the boarding house. All precautionary measures for staying during the pandemic are provided, and the cozy atmosphere is close to home. Territorial centers for social services of the population act as intermediaries, studying the needs of elderly citizens for such a service, and if necessary, they will also provide transportation to the boarding house for the elderly or disabled using their own transport.
