The first combine harvester crews in Vitebsk region to harvest a thousand tons of grain will receive diplomas and cash bonuses directly in the field today, the regional committee of the agro-industrial complex workers' union informed a BELTA correspondent. The first to harvest a thousand tons of grain was the crew of brothers Zhernousek from the "Zaozerye" branch of the "Lepel Dairy and Canning Plant" OJSC. Alexander and Valery Zhernousek, operating a KZS-1218 combine harvester, surpassed the thousand-ton mark in the second half of the day on July 29. Just a few hours later, in the Orsha district, the crew of the "Kupalovsky" agricultural production cooperative, consisting of Vyacheslav Sernov and Vladimir Migdalev, who also operate a KZS-1218, achieved the same result. The organizers of the regional operational competition (the regional committee of the agro-industrial complex trade union and the agriculture committee of the regional executive committee) decided to amend the conditions for awarding the harvest leaders and to reward two combine harvester crews who were the first to harvest a thousand tons of grain. They will be awarded cash bonuses of six base units each (one BU - Br35 thousand). As of July 30, farms in Vitebsk region have harvested over 178 thousand hectares, or almost 40% of the grain acreage. 432.3 thousand tons of grain have been harvested, with an average yield of 24.3 centners per hectare. -0-
