The first tourist villages in the Vitebsk region are being created in the Polotsk district

April 13, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. The first tourist villages in the Vitebsk region are being created in the Polotsk district on the basis of the settlements of Dretun and Babynichi, the Polotsk District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. These settlements have been awarded this status thanks to their advantageous location. Remote from large cities and main transport arteries, surrounded by forests and lakes, these villages are an ideal place for a peaceful rural holiday. At the request of guests, the entire village is waiting for them: most locals are ready to host tourists in their homes, provide them with comfortable living conditions, and feed them with the best dishes of national cuisine. Depending on the season, villagers will organize various folk entertainment and festivities for tourists, are ready to teach folk crafts, organize boat trips, fishing, or successful hunting. Guests will not be bored in any case. The creation of tourist villages is primarily driven by demand, specialists noted. Thus, the district executive committee and local travel agencies have received quite a few applications not only from Belarus but also from Russia for corporate rural holidays for a large number of people. However, as it turned out, not all business entities in the tourism sector are ready to accommodate a large group at the same time. Currently, preparations are underway in Dretun and Babynichi to receive tourists. The first visitors will be members of the primary organizations of the public association "Belaya Rus" in June. In anticipation of guests, local residents are preparing their homesteads, forming a sports base, improving their theoretical knowledge of working with tourists, and establishing contacts with tour operators. Local authorities will assist villagers in "promoting" the tourist villages, the district executive committee added. -0-
