The first two-thousand-ton crew appeared at the harvest in the Vitebsk region
Having overcome the 2,000-ton threshold, Sergey Grekov, operating his KZS-1218 machine, became a leader from the very beginning of the harvest. He was only a few hours behind the crew of the Zaozerie SPF (a branch of the Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant OJSC) in the Lepel district, which was the first to reach one thousand tons in the region. This harvest campaign is the 29th for the experienced machine operator. His assistant, Oleg Sushkevich, a driver for the director of the Orsha Agricultural Holding, is participating in the harvest for the second time. The two-thousand-ton achiever will be honored right in the field to minimize disruption to the harvest work. The leaders will be congratulated by representatives of the trade union, district leadership, and Vitebskmyasomolprom OJSC.
The main triumphant harvesters are working in the fields of the Orsha district, which leads the region in yield (46 centners per hectare). Out of 15 crews that have reached one thousand tons, 9 are from Orsha as of this morning.
There are also frontrunners among the youth crews – currently two such crews. "By evening, we will have new additions: the family team of brothers Vladimir and Dmitry Milenko from ASB-Agro Novator CJSC in the Beshenkovichi district is approaching the one-thousand-ton mark, and others are catching up – there are crews in the Dubrovno and Tolochin districts that will definitely be included in tomorrow morning's report," added Viktor Gutorov.
According to operational data as of the morning of August 16, over 45.5% of grain and leguminous crops have been threshed in the region. 496 thousand tons have been harvested with an average yield of 32.4 centners per hectare.
