The first stage of the Lukomlskaya GRES reconstruction will be completed in mid-May this year, the station's director Alexander Bazylenko told Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, a BELTA correspondent reports. The chairman of the regional executive committee familiarized himself with the station's operation today. In 2006, the turbines on the first two power units began to be updated. In December 2009, unit No. 4 was shut down for major repairs. The completion of work on it will mark the end of the first stage of the station's reconstruction. According to preliminary data, this power unit will consume less than 300 g of standard fuel per 1 kWh of electricity generated. Meanwhile, the average specific fuel consumption for electricity generation at the station in January-February of this year was 311 g per kWh. The second stage of the station's upgrade involves the construction of new type installations - gas turbine units with a capacity of 400 MW. In January-February, Lukomlskaya GRES generated 1,561,803 MWh of electricity, while in January-February 2009, this figure was 1,424,976 MWh. Electricity generation increased by 9.6%. The installed capacity of Lukomlskaya GRES exceeds 2.4 thousand MW. The first power unit of the station was commissioned in 1969, and the last, the eighth, in 1974. In summer (the period of highest load for Lukomlskaya GRES capacities), it produces about 60% of the electricity generated in the republic. -0-
