The first snow fell in Vitebsk

October 15, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The first snowflakes swirled in Vitebsk today, a BELTA correspondent reports. Indeed, snow showers have been recorded, confirmed by the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring ("Vitebskoblhydromet"). Snowfall is occurring against a backdrop of lowered temperatures: October temperatures are currently 1-5 degrees below the climatic norm. The snowfall is evidence that deep autumn, the pre-winter period, has arrived, according to meteorologists. The earliest snowfall in Vitebsk was recorded on September 23, 1973, and the earliest snow cover was established on October 7, 1968. However, on October 15, 1946, the snow depth was 4 cm. For the upcoming weekend, meteorologists forecast clear but cold weather with nighttime temperatures down to minus 5 and daytime temperatures not exceeding 8 degrees Celsius. It is possible that by the middle of next week, autumn will give its farewell kiss – it will be sunny, and the temperature will rise to the average climatic norm. But this will only last for a few days. The pre-winter period has already arrived. -0-
