The first Voter Center in an educational institution has been opened at VGMU
On November 12, 2024, the solemn opening of the VGMU Voter Center took place at the Vitebsk State Medical University. The event was attended by Rector Aleksei Chukanov, representatives of the university administration, staff, and students.
Aleksei Nikolaevich handed over the symbolic key to the Center to Dmitry Kuzhel, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work, and Polina Denisenok, Chairperson of the Student Council.
The VGMU Voter Center is an information and consultation center on electoral campaign issues, established to familiarize students and staff with the regulatory framework of the upcoming elections, as well as to provide practical familiarization for young voters with the voting process.
"The opening of the VGMU Voter Center is a landmark event for our university, which, among other things, will allow us to prepare our first-time voting students for an important and responsible event – participation in elections. The opening of the Center will be a good support for the formation of knowledge and correct skills that are necessary for young voters. Students will be able to see how a polling station is organized, familiarize themselves with the procedure for preparing and conducting the election campaign, and ask questions of interest. All this will allow our students not to get lost on election day, as they will already understand the algorithm of actions at the polling station. This Center will undoubtedly serve to increase the electoral activity of students," noted Aleksei Chukanov.
