The first wind farm in the Vitebsk region is planned to be commissioned in August

The first wind farm in the Vitebsk region is planned to be commissioned in August. Currently, commissioning works are being carried out at the facility, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Department for Supervision of Rational Use of Energy Resources of the Department for Energy Efficiency.

Two wind turbines of the German company Vensys have been installed near the villages of Simanovo and Emelyanovo in the Liozno district. Their total capacity is close to 6 MW. The altitude above sea level where the wind turbines are located is 265-274 m. Permanent magnets are used in the design of the wind turbines, as a result of which the wind turbines operate silently.

According to Valery Alexandrov, Director of VetroWatt LLC, about $8 million of borrowed funds and enterprise funds have been invested in the project implementation. Belarusian enterprises' equipment will be maximally used in the production of green energy. The planned annual electricity generation is about 18 million kWh per year.

"Commissioning and power output to the energy system are planned for the third decade of August this year," the regional department said.
