The first bell will ring on Knowledge Day for 11.5 thousand first-graders in the Vitebsk region, as reported by the education department of the regional executive committee.

"This is approximately the same number of children as in the past academic season. At the same time, the total number of schoolchildren in the region has increased by almost 500 people this year, reaching over 111 thousand children and adolescents. In Vitebsk, schools will admit 35.5 thousand students, including about 4 thousand first-graders," specialists said.

Knowledge Day will be opened by traditional festive assemblies, in which representatives of local authorities, patrons of educational institutions, parents, labor veterans, famous guests, and school graduates will participate. In Vitebsk, the festive project "Hello, School Planet!" will gather about 10 thousand students at the Summer Amphitheater. Many schools in the city have decided to celebrate this day with a trip to the cinema: screenings for September 1 at the "Mir" cinema and the House of Cinema are already scheduled. The children will see the films "Maxim Tank" and "Pervodruk" from the national film studio "Belarusfilm." In addition, the selection of films of Belarusian production for children from UP "Kinovideoprokat" of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee includes about 50 feature, documentary, and animated films, including those dedicated to famous cultural and literary figures, the 100th anniversary of the police, road traffic injury prevention, and others.

Polotsk will mark Knowledge Day with bright and memorable projects. The Skorina Olympiad, the historical reconstruction "Journey to a School of the Past: One Day in the Life of a 19th-Century Gymnasium Student," and a gymnasium students' ball will be held here.
