The first bell in the Vitebsk region will ring for about 12,000 first-graders

The first bell in the Vitebsk region will ring for about 12,000 first-graders, the main education department of the regional executive committee reported.

"This is approximately the same number of children as last year. In total, more than 110,000 students will start school in the region. In Vitebsk, schools will open their doors to more than 35,000 students, of whom about 4,000 will go to the first grades," the department said.

Knowledge Day will be opened by traditional festive assemblies (in most schools, they will be held on Saturday, September 1). Representatives of local authorities, sponsor enterprises, parents, labor veterans, and famous school graduates will take part in them. Heads of republican state administration bodies will come to school celebrations in their small homeland.

In Vitebsk, hundreds of junior and middle school students will be gathered for the festive project "Hello, School Planet! We are from Autumn to Summer". A theatrical concert program will be prepared for them in the Summer Amphitheater.

The first lesson of the new academic year, as throughout the country, will be dedicated to the Year of Small Motherland and will be held under the title "I am lucky to be born here...".

In total, 350 general secondary education institutions will operate in the northern region, including 23 gymnasiums. All of them are ready to receive students.
