The first laureates of the honorary title "Vitebsk Citizen of the Year" will be honored on City Day

The first laureates of the honorary title "Vitebsk Citizen of the Year" will be honored in the regional center during the City Day celebrations, as reported by the Vitebsk City Executive Committee.

Vitebsk will celebrate its 1042nd anniversary on June 24-26. On the first day of the celebration, a solemn meeting and a festive concert will be held in the Summer Amphitheater. During this event, the first 10 laureates of the honorary title "Vitebsk Citizen of the Year" will be honored. The new title (it is planned to be awarded annually) was established by the City Executive Committee and includes five nominations: "Event of the Year", "Project of the Year", "Patron of the Year", "Debut of the Year", "Public Recognition".

Among the first laureates are Sergey Batalko, a police officer from the Railway Department of the Security Department, who this spring shielded a child from a car impact (the incident received significant attention and was widely discussed in the media and social networks), Svetlana Okruzhna, an actress of the Yakub Kolas Theater, People's Artist of Belarus, Anatoly Shchastny, Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University, Reiman Veniaminov, Director of the trade company "Vesta", and Elena Pantyukhova, Director of the "Vitebsk" radio and television company. The laureates of the honorary title will receive diplomas and cash prizes.
