Pyotr Gnutenko: "Not a single military burial site in the Vitebsk region has been left unattended"

Петр Гнутенко: «Ни одно воинское захоронение в Витебской области не оставлено без внимания»
As explained by Petr Gnutenko, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee, the events planned for the past five-year period to perpetuate the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland have been completed, and a new program for 2021-2025 is now being approved.

– There are 1.5 thousand memorials and military burials in the Vitebsk region. Thanks to comprehensive work on their maintenance and renewal, more than 60% of them are in good condition and do not require significant financial investment. The plan is to increase this figure to 75%. A large number, considerable investment. But this is our duty. In addition to capital work, cosmetic repairs and landscaping are also carried out. Not a single military burial has been left unattended, – emphasized Petr Gnutenko.

An important component of the work in perpetuating memory is expanding access to the information database on those who died defending the Fatherland, victims of wars, and their burial places. A number of other measures are also envisaged.
