Cockfighting and piping hot turkey. The "Gourmet's Dream" festival was held in Gorodok.
The program began with a chefs' battle for cooking dishes over an open fire. In the specially designated area, the tension rose no less than in the kitchen of the famous chef Gordon Ramsay. Having received a standard set of vegetables and the main ingredient – turkey, the teams entered the fray. They were given three hours to prepare. It seems like a long time. But, firstly, turkey meat cooks slower than chicken, and secondly, they had to feed not only the strict jury but also the public tasters. And there were quite a few of them gathered around the fires lined up in a row.
A rescue for the most impatient was the amateur cooks' battle, who argued whose egg dishes were better. They cooked according to an old tradition – on a log. By the way, lighting a fire from the chips inserted into it was not an easy task for everyone. But now, the logs were burning with a bright flame, and red-hot cast-iron pans were radiating heat on them. Inside were not just plain fried eggs – but real works of art! Omelets with various flavors – sausage, ham, herbs, and even pumpkin, dishes with Italian and French flair, and of course, fragrant fried eggs with salo... And the Gorodok enterprise of boiler and heating networks even gave their sunny-side-up eggs a name – Maryasha. The fact is that their competition breakfast was decorated in the form of a girl with a hairstyle.
Unusual shows and games were presented at the main venue of the festival. This is a parade-defile of "chicks" - little ones dressed in costumes specially made for the holiday. Pan races, team relay races in sacks and... on huge skis designed for several people at once. Folk fun was a success, as were the rooster races. The vocal "athletes" with combs were provided by the poultry farm. The birds were named creatively and quite humanly: Philipp, Arkhip, Brad Pitt, and Demid.
By participating in contests and quests, one could earn the festival currency "indyuchOK" and then exchange it for branded souvenirs and bonuses. And, perhaps, the main bonus of the holiday was the good mood and delicious treats guaranteed to all guests of "Mary Gurmana".
We think the holiday will become traditional, shared his opinion the Chairman of the Gorodok District Executive Committee Petr Korobach:
– We already have a signature festival for the region – "Taras on Parnassus". This year, during the festival, we tried to surprise everyone with a rich and tasty fish soup. People liked it. Presenting "Mara Gurmana" today, we hope for the same response. Moreover, this is not just a culinary event, but also a way to talk about the benefits of turkey meat, thereby laying down new healthy eating traditions.
