Pilots from five countries will take part in the "Eurocup-2010" in aeromodelling sports in Vitebsk
June 3, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Open republican competitions in model aircraft sport "Eurocup-2010" will be held in Vitebsk on June 5-6 with the participation of pilots from five countries, the regional organizational structure of DOSAAF informed a BELTA correspondent.
Competitions of model aircraft builders of this level will be held for the first time in the regional center, specialists noted. About 40 athletes from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, and Moldova will gather at the airfield of the Vitebsk Aeroclub named after A. Gorovets of DOSAAF. Participants will determine the strongest in aerial combat on model aircraft replicas of aircraft from the First and Second World Wars. The models are made in a scale of 1:8 and 1:12, respectively, and are replicas of aircraft built during the First World War and in the period from 1935 to 1945.
Pilots will have to go through several rounds, based on the results of which the participants of the "World War I Final" and "World War II Final" will be determined. Seven best athletes will compete in the sky in two final battles. The flights of the models simulate real aerial combat. Each replica has a 12-meter ribbon, and the pilot's task is to cut off the opponents' ribbons and save their own. When determining the winners, the flight time of the models is also taken into account (each round lasts 7 minutes). Winners in the two categories will be awarded cups, and prize-winners will receive medals and diplomas. The Vitebsk City Executive Committee has established a special prize for the best junior pilot.
The competitions are organized by the City Executive Committee, the regional organizational structure of DOSAAF, and the Vitebsk Aeroclub named after A. Gorovets. -0-
