The Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic has prepared five open-air music evenings to celebrate its 25th anniversary

Пять музыкальных вечеров на открытом воздухе подготовила Витебская областная филармония по случаю своего 25-летия

Festive events dedicated to the anniversary will begin on May 25. These include concerts of symphonic, vocal, chamber music, and an evening of national art. The opening of the project, titled "Five Evenings with the Philharmonic," will take place in the courtyard, where numerous surprises await the audience. According to the artistic director of the cultural institution, Nelly Matsaberidze, open-air classical music concerts were unusually popular in Vitebsk in the 1920s, when the city had a symphony orchestra conducted by Nikolai Malko. The Philharmonic artists decided to revive this tradition.

Coincidentally, two of its ensembles are celebrating anniversaries along with the cultural institution: the balalaika octet "Vitebsk Virtuosos" and the ensemble "Talaka." Two evenings within the project are dedicated to these dates. "Five Evenings with the Philharmonic" will conclude with a grand gala concert to mark the closing of the XXV concert season, featuring artists and ensembles performing their best and most beloved repertoire.
