Five residents of the Vitebsk region faced criminal charges for attempting to bypass the technical inspection station

August 17, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Five residents of the Vitebsk region have faced criminal charges for attempting to obtain a technical inspection certificate without actually undergoing the inspection. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. During operational-search activities, police officers discovered that an unemployed resident of Vitebsk was offering drivers assistance in obtaining certificates of technical inspection for their vehicles and permits for participation in road traffic without presenting the vehicle for inspection at a station. The cost of this service was estimated at Br130-150 thousand. As the unemployed man explained, the money was intended for transfer to a certain official of UP "Beltekhosmotr". A few days later, the car owner would receive a certificate with all the necessary stamps. There were quite a few people willing to undergo technical inspection in this manner. In Vitebsk alone, law enforcement officers identified 6 such cases, and another 11 cases were identified in the Gorodok district. During the investigation, it was revealed that all the stamps were forged, and the money was not transferred to any employees of "Beltekhosmotr". Criminal cases were initiated not only against the Vitebsk resident but also against four residents of the Gorodok district. The first was found guilty by the court of incitement to bribery, fraud, forgery of documents and stamps, and was sentenced to 2.5 years of restriction of liberty without being sent to open-type correctional institutions. The unsuccessful car owners were also found guilty by the court of attempted bribery, aiding in the forgery of official documents, and using forged documents. They were sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty without being sent to open-type correctional institutions. -0-
