Fifty pigs died in a fire at a private farm in the Polotsk district
January 27, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Fifty pigs died in a fire at a private livestock farm in the Polotsk district, the propaganda and training center at the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told a BELTA correspondent.
Information about the incident in the village of Yakubenki at the farm owned by the Dubovaya Roshcha farm enterprise was received on the night of January 26-27. By the time the Ministry of Emergency Situations units arrived, the agricultural building with a total area of over 1.6 thousand square meters was completely engulfed in flames, and the roof of the building had collapsed. A security guard born in 1983 received burns to both legs of the 1st-2nd degree and was hospitalized at the Novopolotsk Central City Hospital.
At the time of the fire, there were 50 pigs under one year old, as well as two horses, at the farm, which died before the rescuers arrived.
As a result of the incident, the roof and ceiling of the building were destroyed, and the walls were damaged. The preliminary damage is estimated at Br55 million.
The causes of the fire are being established, with two possible versions being considered: violation of the rules for the operation of electrical networks and electrical equipment (short circuit of a homemade heater) or careless handling of fire by a farm employee. -0-
