The fifth hemodialysis unit in the Vitebsk region opened at the Postavy District Hospital
September 9, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The fifth hemodialysis unit in the Vitebsk region has opened at the Postavy Central District Hospital, the hospital's chief physician Vladimir Chekavy told a BELTA correspondent.
The new unit is equipped with two artificial kidney machines purchased with funds from the republican budget. About Br400 million from the district budget was allocated for the renovation of the premises and the purchase of additional equipment. Local doctors underwent specialized training at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The opening of the unit at the Postavy hospital will make it possible to improve not only the quality of life of patients but also to provide specialized care in case of injuries and acute food poisoning.
10 residents of the district need extracorporeal blood purification. Previously, they had to travel 2-3 times a week for the life-saving procedure to the Glubokoye District Hospital, located 70 km from Postavy. As Vladimir Chekavy noted, equipping district hospitals with artificial kidney machines is an indicator of the development of medicine in the country and will certainly affect the implementation of the demographic security program.
In addition to Postavy, hemodialysis units operate in the hospitals of Vitebsk, Polotsk, Orsha, and Glubokoye. -0-
