Vitebsk region swimmers showed a worthy result at the I Minsk International Open Water Swimming Tournament

The final, 3rd stage of the I Minsk International Open Water Swimming Competition "Belgart Marathon" took place at Komsomolskoye Lake in the capital at the end of September, when the water temperature dropped to +13 degrees Celsius. The competition was held under the auspices of the Belarusian Federation of Hardening and Sports Winter Swimming. More than 40 swimmers from Belarus, Russia, and even India of all ages competed in various freestyle distances.

The Vitebsk region team reached the finals of all three starts with a decent result. Yaroslav Pronin, a master of sports in summer and winter swimming from Vitebsk, took first place in two distances at once – 450 m and 2 km. Following him in the first distance was also a representative of our region – Alexander Mandrik, and at the two-kilometer water mark – Stanislav Shumyakov, a master of sports and swimming coach at Vitebsk Children's and Youth Sports School No. 8, from which most of our team members hail. In the one-kilometer distance, Polotsk resident Igor Kapytenko showed the best result. By the way, his 13-year-old son Ilya was the youngest participant in the cold water swim; the boy took 8th place in his age category in the 450 m distance. In the freestyle relay, the regional team took second place.

Now our "walruses" are preparing to participate in the first stage of the Republic of Belarus Cup, which will be held at the end of October in Minsk.
